Museum acquires historic speech delivered at Carson’s reburial in 1869

The Museum acquired an important hand-written speech from Heritage Auctions last year. This original speech was written by Kit Carson's friend and comrade, Pedro Mondragon. In his will, Kit asked that his and Josefa's bodies be disinterred when the weather was cooler and brought to Taos for reburial. On November 30, 1868, Pedro Mondragon read this speech at Kit's grave.
