“Josefa; The Lifetime of Maria Josefa Jaramillo Carson,” has arrived in the Museum’s book store. The Kit Carson Home and Museum book project to chronicle the life of Josefa Carson, Kit Carson’s wife, has become a reality.  Several years ago, the Museum approached author, Barbara Schultz, asking her if she would be interested in writing a book about Josefa. As a response to our bold request Barbara replied, “Absolutely!”

Barbara has researched and tracked her subject for the past two years and the result is a wonderful book about a mostly unknown figure of New Mexican history. We are proud to present this beautiful book and offer Barbara our deepest thanks for her tenacity and skill in completing this important project. We also wish to thank the generous donors who made the printing of this book possible. Many libraries in New Mexico have already purchased “Josefa” for their collections. All proceeds from the sale of “Josefa” go directly to the Museum and will help fund future educational projects.

“Josefa” $22.95  (We can ship you the book for a $5.00 shipping fee. Call the Museum at 575-758-4945)
